NaNoWriMo Update: Day 24 – Winner! Winner badge 180x180

Yeap, I finished my novel in 24 days out of the allocated 30. When I first heard about NaNoWriMo, I was unsure if it was something that I wanted to do, it seemed silly to try to pump out that much work in such a short amount of time. I had recently finished my first novel which clocked in at roughly 113,000 words over a nine month period (which I did twice, a first and a second draft) and considering the amount of work that went into writing that novel, I didn’t think I had it in me to do 50,000 words in a month. Then my wife told me she wanted to do it. Well crap, now I have to do it too. I can say that looking back at it now, I’m sure glad I did.

NaNoWriMo Update: Day 15

So I have reached the halfway point and I’m still going strong! So far this has been an extremely positive experience and I’ve met a whole lot of new people over at the NaNoWriMo forums and FB group that have been very kind, helpful, and good cheerleaders for everyone trying to get this this.

Your Average Per Day 1,745
Target Word Count 50,000
Target Average Words Per Day 1,667
Total Words Written 26,183
Words Remaining 23,817
Current Day 15
Days Remaining 16
I’m hoping that I will finish by Thanksgiving so I can have a few days of fun at the end of the month and enjoy some turkey and football before getting down to the fun job of editing this furiously written novel into something that is readable.
Good luck to everyone writing

NaNoWriMo Update: Day 4

So currently it is day four of the National Novel Writing Month contest. I’ve been pushing myself to write every day and I’m quite pleased that I have been able to keep on pace. My current stats are:

Your Average Per Day: 2,489
Target Word Count: 50,000
Target Average Words Per Day: 1,667
Total Words Written: 9,959
Words Remaining: 40,041
I flip-flopped back and forth the day before the contest started on what story I would write. I couldn’t decide between a fantasy story from my home brewed setting that I use for my D&D game called Night Reign or to use the Science Fiction setting involving the space marines that I used as part of me Building a Story series. In the end I decided to write the Science Fiction story as I already had a plot written out and ready to go and I figured that would make my life easier on my first attempt for NaNoWriMo. So far, I was right. Here’s hoping it continues to go smoothly.
